A Simple Bedtime Routine for Adults: Where to Start

Choose a routine you can repeat
A bedtime routine is a sequence of familiar activities before sleep. It does not need to be elaborate. Start by looking at your real evening: when work ends, when you eat, and which activities keep you occupied until bed.
A simple example to adapt
Set aside a quiet part of the evening. Finish essential tasks, prepare what you need for tomorrow, and choose a low-key activity such as reading. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute suggests quiet time before bed and a quiet, cool, dark bedroom. These ideas are general education, rather than a personalised treatment plan.
Give yourself room to be consistent
An occasional late evening does not make your routine a failure. Record what happened and return to a realistic pattern. Avoid treating your routine as a test you must pass before you are allowed to sleep.
When a guide can help
If you want these ideas organised in one place, Sleep Reset System includes routine education, checklists and a 21-day diary. It offers a framework for reflection, not a promise of improved sleep within 21 days.
